A Fatality Reported In Smith County

This morning after 2:00, DPS responded to a one-vehicle fatal crash on TX-31, four and a half miles east of Tyler in Smith County. The preliminary crash investigation revealed that a 2012 Honda Accord was traveling west on TXH-31 when according to a passenger in the vehicle, the driver fell asleep. The car moved off the road to the left, into a ditch where it struck a private drive and rolled. Judge Cowart pronounced the driver, Tambilan Williams, 18, of Tyler, dead at the scene. Troopers identified the passenger as Jaun Woods, 17, of Tyler. Paramedics took Ms. Woods to ETMC-Tyler with serious injuries.
