Paris – Tomorrow will start one of the longest sports traditions in Paris, as local golfers gather for the 70th annual 4th of July Tournament. The tournament boasts quite a history. Paris native Leland Hammon not only was a founding father of the tournament, but also played in the first Masters tournament in 1935. The opening round will begin on Friday and finish with round three on Sunday.

Mount Pleasant – The City of Mt. Pleasant and the Mt. Pleasant Rodeo Association put on the annual Mt. Pleasant Rodeo earlier this month. This week the MPRA held a luncheon and confirmed the opening night on June 9th set an all-time high in attendance for the event. Some of the key mark events at this years rodeo included traditional competitions like bullfighting and mutton bustin, as well as the new comedic relief competition, The Donkey Deal.

Sulphur Springs – Local athletes have been partaking in summer camps at Sulphur Springs high school this week. Though the season won’t begin for several more months, many athletes turned out for a four night SSISD soccer camp, run by Nicky Wiggins. Meanwhile, more than two dozen young ladies entering the 4th-7th grade turned out for volleyball camp with new head varsity coach, Justin Maness. The varsity volleyball season will begin the first week of August for the Lady Cats.

Last night the Texas Rangers fall to the Yankees 9-7. The Rangers had a healthy lead in the 8th after an Adrian Beltre blast. But that’s where the collapse began. The yanks scored one in the 8th and six in the 9th to walk it off on a Didi Gregorius homer. With the Rangers holding a 2-1 edge, Texas and New York wrap up their four game set this afternoon [on kplt 1490am and 96.3fm]. First pitch is at 12:05.

It’ll be another day before we have a College World Series Champion after weather has postponed game 3 between Arizona and Coastal Carolina. With the series tied at one game apiece the two teams are rescheduled to take to the diamond this afternoon. First pitch is at 12:05.

And at the 2nd round of Wimbledon yesterday, top ranked Novak Djokovic defeats Adrian Mannarino in three sets. 3rd ranked Rodger Federer dominated Marcus Willis in three sets. Today 2nd ranked Andy Murray will take on Yen-Hsun Lu.
