The trial for Smith County Commissioner JoAnn Hampton is underway. Hampton allegedly got into an argument with an elderly woman about setting up the communion table at their church, and Hampton allegedly pushed the woman down. Hampton is facing two different charges of elderly abuse, one of which carries a penalty of ten years in prison. The other carries a two-year sentence and a $10,000 fine.
