Would you want to help your community in times of disaster? The American Red Cross is looking for people who would be willing to help their community prepare and respond to emergencies. Red Cross volunteers support first responders by being trained in the various tasks necessary helping communities recover from a disaster. It includes providing assistance to victims of house fires, tornadoes, and floods, as well as setting up shelters and teaching kids about preparing for emergencies. If you might be interested, please come to a volunteer information meeting on Tuesday (Mar 20) at 4:00 pm at the Mt Pleasant Public Library, 601 N. Madison, in Mt Pleasant. It is for residents of Franklin, Morris, and Titus counties. For information, go to http://www.redcross.org/support/volunteer, or contact Alan McMillin (409/289-1255); amcmillin53@hotmail.com
