The Farm Service Agency (FSA) is accepting applications for emergency farm loans for severe physical losses only caused by high winds that occurred May 3, 2017. Hopkins County Farm Loan Manager, Heather Cox, asks farmers who want to apply to submit their applications as soon as possible. The deadline is February 12, 2018. A backlog develops causing delays if you wait too long.
Farmers eligible for the emergency loans are those that experienced high loss due to the winds on May 3, 2017. Application consideration is on each of their own merits. FSA takes into account the extent of losses, security available and repayment ability. The FSA office is at 530 N. Hillcrest Dr. in Sulphur Springs.
