Fatal Accident In Van Zandt County

Sunday (Aug 20) at approximately 5:37 pm, Troopers responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on FM-17 in Van Zandt County, four miles northeast of the city of Grand Saline. Joshua Wintters, 39, of Ben Wheeler, the driver of a 2001 GMC Sierra, was traveling east on FM-17 towing a homemade trailer. Wintters began to turn right into a private drive when Ethan Landaverde, 27, of Van struck his towed unit from behind with a 2003 Suzuki GSX. Paramedics transported Landaverde to Texas General Hospital in Grand Saline where Dr. Neurganka pronounced him dead. Hilliard Funeral Home in Van has his body.
