Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash

Monday around 5:00 am there was a two-vehicle fatal crash on SH-315 in Panola County. It occurred 2.5 miles northeast of Carthage. The driver of a 2014 Nissan Sentra, identified as Linton Williams Brice, 25, of Madison WI, was traveling eastbound on SH-315. The driver of a 2001 GMC Yukon XL, identified as Jermario Dequan Smiley, 23, of Conway AR, was traveling westbound on the same roadway. Brice drove onto the wrong side of the road and struck the GMC Yukon. The impact caused the Nissan to enter the eastbound bar ditch facing west. The Yukon rolled to its right and topped twice entering the westbound bar ditch coming to rest upright facing southeast. Judge David Gray pronounced Brice dead at the scene. Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home in Carthage has his body. Paramedics transported Smiley to UT Health-Carthage in critical condition.
