High School Baseball Update Plus Rangers Beltre Injured in Ranger Loss

The Texas High School Baseball State Tournament actions continues today. Beckville beats Stamford 9-0 and Flatonia defeats Bosqueville 10-4 to advance to the Class 2A state title game this morning at 9am. Van Alstyne edges out Banquete 8-7 while West handles Shallowater 6-1 to set up the Class 3A championship at noon. Capping off yesterday’s action, Salado throttles Waco Robinson 7-1. Salado will meet Abilene Wylie in the Class 4A title game at 6:30 this evening. Abilene Wylie defeated district 15-4A Champion, Pleasant Grove 7-5. Along with the 2A, 3A and 4A championships, the Class 5A Semi Finals will take place today. The pair of games will feature Grapevine against Whitehouse out of Tyler, Texas at 4pm and Alamo Heights taking on College Station at 7.

Last night the Texas Rangers fall to the Houston Astros 3-1. Starting pitcher Yu Darvish and 3rd baseman Adrian Beltre both left the game early with injuries. Darvish experienced soreness in his throwing arm and was removed as a precaution, but is expected to make his next scheduled start. Beltre, meanwhile, pulled up lame with a hamstring issue and will be reevaluated today by team doctors. The Rangers and Astros wrap up their four game set this afternoon [on kplt 1490am and 96.3fm]. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05pm Central Time.

The Cleveland Cavaliers showed up to the NBA Finals last night, beating the Golden State Warriors 120-90. LeBron James put up 32 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out six assists. Golden State still leads the series 2-1. Game four is tomorrow 8pm.

And former New England Patriots Tight End Aaron Hernandez, who was convincted of murder in 2013 and currently awaiting trial for a double homicide, has hired high profile defense attorney Jose Baez, who’s best known for his work in defense of Casey Anthony in 2011.
