High School Football Preview Plus Mavz Lose Opener

Paris – It’s already week 10 of the high school football season in the Red River Valley. Tomorrow, on 101.9 KBUS, the Paris Wildcats can grab at least a share of the district title as they host Anna. The North Lamar Panthers travel to Quinlan to take on the Ford Panthers on MIX 107.7 and our KOYN Game of the Week will feature the Cooper Bulldogs on the road against Whitewright.

High school volleyball playoffs begin next week. On Monday the Prairiland Lady Patriots take on New Boston at Mt. Vernon. On Tuesday Paris will face Mabank at Greenville at 6pm. North Lamar and Wills Point will follow and Chisum will take on Hooks at Mt. Pleasant.

Mount Pleasant – It’s already week 10 of the high school football season, meaning playoff spots are on the line. The Pittsburg Pirates look for their 3rd district win against Gladewater on KLAKE 97.7. On the Star Country Game of the Week, the Daingerfield Tigers are in the race for a district crown with a 3-1 record. they’ll host New Diana on 96.9. The Mt. Vernon Tigers are 4-1 in district 7-3A and will travel to Farmersville to take on the Fighting Farmers. The Paul Pewitt Brahmas look to stay in the playoff hunt at home against Queen City. And the Gilmer Buckeyes are perfect in district. They’ll be on the road against Atlanta.

Sulphur Springs – It’s already week 10 of the high school football season, meaning playoff spots are on the line. The Sulphur Springs Wildcats at 1-3 look to get back in the post season conversation when they travel up I30 to face the Greenville Lions on Star Country 95.9. Kickoff is at 7:30. Meanwhile, the Mt. Vernon Tigers are 4-1 in district play. They’ll make a trip to play the Farmersville Fighting Farmers. The Cumby Trojans are 7-1 on the year and will host the Detroit Eagles. The Cooper Bulldogs look for their 3rd district victory on the road at Whitewright. The Commerce Tigers are on the road against Mineola And the Emory Rains Wildcats can clinch a playoff spot when they host Canton.

Last night in the World Series, the Cubbies even the Fall Classic at a game apiece after beating Cleveland 5-1 in game two. Game three shifts to Chicago tomorrow night. First pitch is at 7pm.

The Dallas Mavericks tip off the season last night, suffering a 130-121 overtime loss to Indiana. Daron Williams lead the Mavs with 25 points and seven assists. Dirk added 22 and eight rebounds. Dallas will play their home opener at the A-A-C tomorrow night against Houston at 7:30.

And the Dallas Cowboys welcome NFC East Rival Philadelphia to AT&T Stadium for Sunday Night Football. The Cowboys lead the division at 5-1. The Eagles are 4-2. Kickoff on Sunday night [on 101.9 KBUS] is set for 7:30.
