High School Football Results Plus Cowboys Defeat Skins

Paris – Area football teams were in action over the weekend. The Rivercrest Rebels remain unbeaten after winning a shortened game over Cooper 30-0. The Prairiland Patriots beat Celeste 21-6 and the Chisum Mustangs roll over Queen City 38-16. The Paris Wildcats fall to Pittsburg 49-35. North Lamar loses in Pottsboro 45-28. Detroit goes down 31-0 to Wolfe City. Clarksville is shut out by Tenaha and Honey Grove gets blanked by Bells 39-0.

Mount Pleasant – Area football teams were in action over the weekend. The Mt. Vernon Tigers win on homecoming 40-26 over Ore City. Rivercrest wins a shortened game due to weather over Cooper 30-0. The Pittsburg Pirates spoil homecoming for the Paris Wildcats 49-35 and the Paul Pewitt Brahmas edge out New Boston 28-21. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers fall to Jacksonville 34-16. Daingerfield loses a shootout with White Oak 43-36. Gilmer loses to Carthage 55-37.

Sulphur Springs – Area football teams were in action over the weekend. The Mt. Vernon Tigers pick up a win on homecoming 40-26 over Ore City. Cumby remains undefeated after throttling Trenton 44-0. Lone Oak wins a shootout over Whitewright 56-39. Emory Rains crushes Spring Hill 54-14. The Sulphur Springs Wildcats fall to Whitehouse 49-31. Commerce falls to Bullard 29-13. Greenville gets shut out by Seagoville 27-0. Como Pickton loses to Overton 59-27 and Cooper is shut out against Rivercrest 30-0 in a weather shortened game.

The Dallas Cowboys pick up their first win of the season 27-23 over Washington. Cowboys rookie quarterback, Dak Prescott, accounted for 300 total yards and one of three rushing touchdowns by Dallas. Zeke Elliott totaled 88 yards and a score. Alfred Morris scored the 3rd. The Cowboys are 1-1 on the season

The Texas Rangers lose two out of three to the Oakland A’s, including 5-2 yesterday afternoon. Despite the loss, the Rangers are 88-62 on the season and lead the AL West by 8.5 games over Seattle. Texas will next face off with the LA Angels at Globe Life Park in Arlington. First pitch tonight [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm] is set for 7:05.

And in college football new rankings are released with Alabama hanging on to the top spot. Ohio State, Louisville, Michigan and Clemson round out the top five. The Houston Cougars check in at 6. Texas A&M makes the leap to number 10. Baylor jumps to 16. Texas drops to 21 and Oklahoma falls to 25.
