High School Hoops Match-ups in Today’s Local Sports

Paris – District play on the girls side of high school basketball wraps up tonight. The North Lamar Pantherette’s are playoff bound but can still improve their district seeding. They’ll tip off tonight against the Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks at 6pm on MIX 107.7. The North Lamar boys will follow. The Paris Lady Cats and the 5th ranked Paris Wildcats will be in Pittsburg. To hear the Wildcats on the road tune in to 101.9 KBUS. Coverage begins at 7:15. Chisum’s boys and girls take on Cooper with playoff implications. Prairiland will host Hooks. District champion Clarksville Lady Tigers and the 2nd ranked Clarksville boys take on Detroit. The Rivercrest Lady Rebels are up against James Bowie. And the Honey Grove Lady Warriors host Wolfe City.

Mount Pleasant – District play on the girls side of high school basketball wraps up tonight. The 18th ranked Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers, 17th ranked Chapel Hill Lady Devils, and the 7th ranked Winnsboro Lady Raiders in class 3A are all finishing up the regular season before heading to the post season. The Chapel Hill boys and girls host Hughes Springs. The Mt. Vernon girls are up against Daingerfield, while the Lady Raiders visit Quitman. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers are battling for the 2nd seed in district 15-5A when they travel to play the longview lobos tonight. And the Pittsburg Pirates will host the 5th ranked Paris Wildcats.

Sulphur Springs – District play on the girls side of high school basketball wraps up tonight. The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats, 18th ranked Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers and 7th ranked Winnsboro Lady Raiders will all be in action before heading to the post season. Sulphur Springs girls can wrap up a district title at home tonight against Pine Tree. The Sulphur Springs boys take on the Pirates in Longview. Mt. Vernon will host Daingerfield. The Lady Raiders will be on the road against Quitman. And the Commerce boys are on track for the post season. They’ll take on Whitewright this evening at home.

In college hoops the Texas A&M Commerce Lions take on Texas A&M – Kingsville on the road. Tip off is set for 7:30.

In NCAA division 1 basketball the 24th ranked Texas Longhorns can’t hold on as they fall to 3rd ranked Oklahoma 63-60. The sooners were led by prolific scorer Buddy Hield with 27 points on the evening. Isaiah Taylor led Texas with 19. The Longhorns falls to 16-8 on the season and 7-4 in big 12 play. OU is 20-3 on the year and 8-3 in the conference.

Tonight in the NHL the Dallas Stars look to bounce back from Saturday’s loss to Chicago when they visit the Minnesota Wild at the Xcel Energy Center. The Stars still hold the 2nd seed in the Western Conference with 71 points on a 33-15-5 record. Minnesota enters the contest with 55 points. Puck drop tonight between the Stars and Wild is set for 7pm.

At the American Airline Center in Dallas, meanwhile, the Mavericks host the Utah Jazz. With a 29-25 record the Mavs are currently 6th in the Western Conference, but Utah is only two games back in the west at 25-25 and occupy the 8 seed in the west. Tip off this evening between the Mavs and Jazz in Dallas is set for 7:30.
