High School Sports Plus Rangers and Cowboys News

 

Area volleyball teams will be in action this weekend to tune up for the regular season.
Paris – The 10th ranked North Lamar Pantherette’s and Paris Lady Cats will host their annual play day. Friday’s matches will be at North Lamar then cross over to Paris High on Saturday. The Prairiland Lady Patriots will also participate.
Mount Pleasant – Several area teams will meet Friday at Willie Williams Gym as the Mt Pleasant Lady Tigers host a round robin scrimmage. School’s taking part include the Mt Vernon Lady Tigers, Pittsburg Lady Pirates, and Chapel Hill Lady Devils.
Sulphur Springs – The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats will play in a pair of scrimmages. First, hosting Commerce and Cumby at Sulphur Springs High school on Friday, followed by a trip to Wills Point on Saturday. North Hopkins Volleyball will host a scrimmage on Saturday as well.
Last night the Texas Rangers were edged out by the Seattle Mariners, 8-7. Joey Gallo crushed a pair of homers for the Rangers, including a bomb that cleared Green’s Hill. Rougned Odor also connected for his seventh homer in the last nine games. Texas remains five games out of a Wildcard spot in the American League. Texas will look to avoid the sweep tonight at Globe Life Park in Arlington. First pitch [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm] is set for 7:05.
The Dallas Cowboys play pre-season game number one tomorrow night against the Arizona Cardinals in the annual Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio. Cardinals coach, Bruce Arians confirmed none of his starters will play in tomorrow’s exhibition. Jason Garrett, however, would not make the same commitment for his Cowboys, though many are expected to be in the first of five pre-season games. Kickoff is at 7:00 pm.
And NBA star, Steph Curry is taking his cuts in professional golf. By way of sponsors exemptions, Curry will play in the Ellie Mae Classic starting tomorrow in Hayward, California. Curry was given 3,000-1 odds to win the tournament and says his goal is just to make the cut through the first round.
