Janeen’s Country Cottage celebrated 25 years of business on Tuesday, November 8^th

Janeen’s Country Cottage hosted a ribbon cutting and open house at 630 N. Davis Street in Sulphur Springs on Tuesday, November 8^th from noon to 2 p.m. to celebrate 25 years of business!  What an exciting time for Janeen’s Country Cottage!

Veteran’s Day Ceremony will be held on Celebration Plaza Friday, November 11^th at 11:00 a.m.

All veterans, their families and the community are invited to a Veterans Day ceremony Friday, November 11 beginning at 11:00am at Celebration Plaza in downtown Sulphur Springs.  Veterans Day is an important day in the life of our community and country, and it is appropriate to spend time to thank the men and women that are serving and have served our country.  Hopkins County is fortunate to welcome Retired Colonel James “Jim” Ray as our guest of honor and speaker.  Colonel Ray served in the United States Air Force and was a prisoner of war in Vietnam.  Colonel Ray has received numerous honors including 2 Purple Heart medals, and The Legion of Merit.  In addition, members of the Sulphur Springs High School band will perform patriotic music and the Hopkins County Marine Corp and Military Coalition will conduct military procedures.

 

Stinson RV Resort will host a ribbon cutting celebration on Friday, November 11^th at noon

Stinson RV Resort is hosting a ribbon cutting celebration on Friday, November 11^th at noon.  They are located at 3641 East 1-30 in Campbell, Texas.  Their park is family built, owned and operated. They offer 75 pull through sites with black asphalt pads, 30/50 AMP service, full hook-ups for water, sewer, and electric, Wi-Fi internet, general store, bathhouse/laundry facilities, and a three-acre pond for catch and release.  Please make plans to attend this celebration on Friday at noon!

 

11^th Semi-Annual History by Foot with John Sellers will be held on Saturday, November 12^th at 9:30 a.m.

The Sulphur Springs Downtown Business Alliance presents the 11^th Semi-Annual History by Foot with John Sellers on Saturday, November 12^th at 9:30 a.m. at City Hall in Sulphur Springs.  This is a walking tour of downtown Sulphur Springs that will give the history of historical buildings, landmarks, and homes near downtown.  The walk will start at City Hall and the cost is $10.  Please make reservations by calling City National Bank at (903) 885-7523.

 

Hopkins County presents an Adopt-A Cop Celebration on Sunday, November 13^th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Hopkins County proudly presents an Adopt-A-Cop event on Sunday, November 13^th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Celebration Plaza in Sulphur Springs.  Hamburgers, hotdogs and special music by the Tyler Lenius Band will be provided.  This event is the time to celebrate the arrival of our officer’s new tactical vests which were provided by the community. Please make plans to join this event and celebrate in backing the blue.

 

AgriLife Extension is hosting the 2016 Earthkind Living Conference on Friday, November 18^th

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension is sponsoring the 2016 Earthkind Living Conference on Friday, November 18^th at First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs. Registration is open from October 10^th to November 10^th with admission prices being $25.  After November 10^th, and on site, tickets will cost $35.  This conference will introduce consumer, producers, and volunteers to Earth-Kind Living, a balanced system using university research proven techniques for quality living, environmental stewardship, and overall well-being. Gifts of Love are available for adoption at the Chamber until December 2^nd, 2016

LCHRC Meals on Wheels and RSVP have brought their Gifts of Love that are up for adoption to the Chamber of Commerce.  Gifts of Love sends Christmas gifts to homebound seniors.  Please come by the Chamber and pick out a card of a senior in need.  Wish list items are listed on the cards, and all gifts must be returned by December 2^nd.

 

6^th Annual Turkey Trot scheduled for Thanksgiving Day on Celebration Plaza

Get ready to make room for your Thanksgiving meal by participating in the 6^th Annual Turkey Trot on Thursday, November 24^th, on Celebration Plaza.  The 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8 a.m. with a $30 entry fee.  The 10K Run will also begin at 8 a.m. with a $40 entry fee.  Pace for the 10K is 12 minutes per mile.  There is also a Kids Fun Run at 7:30 a.m. for ages 10 and under.  Entry fee for the Fun Run is $5.  Register at Fieldhouse Sports by November 12^th to guarantee your t-shirt.  Packet pick up is scheduled for Wednesday, November 23^rd, at the ROC from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

 

Divorce Care held weekly at First United Methodist Church at 6:00 p.m.

Divorce Care is a weekly seminar and support group that will help you heal from the hurt of divorce or separation.  It’s a warm, caring environment led by people who understand what you are going through. You will learn practical information that will help you deal with the challenges of being divorced.  Best of all, you will gain hope, healing, and help for your future. Divorce Care Meets every Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 beginning on October 5^th at the First United Methodist Church in Sulphur Springs in the Open Door Sunday School Classroom.  This is found in the basement of the main building.  There is childcare if needed.  They will meet for 14 weeks with one week of a special session entitled “Surviving the Holidays”.  This is scheduled for November 16^th. Contact information is Tom Young at youngtom60@gmail.com, (903) 413-1673 or Debbie Young at youngdede60@gmail.com; (903) 243-1235.
