HS Basketball Tourney Start Today Plus Cowboys Battle Vikings Tonight

Paris – Red River Valley basketball teams will be in tournament action starting this morning and will play through Saturday. Highlighting the weekend, the Prairiland Patriots will host their tournament at Patriot Gym. Prairiland takes to the court against Roxton at 3pm. Chisum and Detroit play at noon. And Rivercrest is up against Trenton in the first round. The 20th ranked Paris Wildcats are at the Van tournament. North Lamar is at the Bowie tournament. On Friday the Honey Grove Lady Warriors are 3-2 on the season and take on Miller Grove and the 5th ranked Clarksville Tigers host Pleasant Grove.

Mount Pleasant – Area basketball teams will be in tournament action starting today and will play through Saturday. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers will be at the Northeast Lions Club Tournament, taking on Richland in the opening round. Tip off is at 7:30. The Chapel Hill Red Devils are at the Prairiland tournament with their first game coming at 3pm. The 8th ranked Chapel Hill girls take on Arp on Friday at 1pm as the tournament host at Chapel Hill high school. 7th ranked Mt. Vernon girls are at the Winnsboro Hoopfest and the Mt. Vernon boys take on Union Grove on Saturday at the American Airline Center in Dallas.

Sulphur Springs – Area basketball teams will be in tournament action starting this morning. The Sulphur Springs Wildcats are off to a 4-0 start and will tip off the Royse City tournament against Anna at 8:30. Tomorrow the Wildcats play Lufkin at 8:30am as well. The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats will be in Winnsboro as the 12th ranked Lady Raiders host the Winnsboro Hoop Fest, along with the 7th ranked Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers. North Hopkins will be at the Prairiland tournament and the Mt. Vernon varsity boys will take on Union Grove on Saturday at the American Airline Center. Tip off is at 2pm.

Last night the Dallas Mavericks lose to the San Antonio Spurs 94-87. Wesley Mathews was the game’s high scorer with 26 points as the Mavs fall to 3-14. Dallas will head to Charlotte for a meeting with Kemba Walker and the Hornets tonight at 6pm.

It’s championship weekend. Tomorrow night, forth ranked Washington plays number eight Colorado in the Pac 12 title game. On Saturday, top ranked Alabama takes on number 15 Florida in the SEC title game. Third ranked Clemson plays number 23 Virginia Tech for the ACC Championship and 6th ranked Wisconsin plays number seven Penn State for the Big Ten title.

Tonight the Dallas Cowboys kickoff with the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football. Dallas has won 10 straight and can lock in a playoff spot with a win and a loss on Sunday by either Washington or Tampa Bay. The Vikings could be without head coach and former Dallas assistant, Mike Zimmer, who had emergency eye surgery last night. Kickoff tonight [on 101.9 KBUS] is set for 7:30.
