HS Hoops Plus Mavericks Organization Focus Of Sexual Misconduct Investigation

Another round of high school basketball playoffs wrapped up last night.
Paris – The Clarksville Tigers and Rivercrest Rebels advance after double-digit wins. First Clarksville put the hurt on Carlisle, 77-42. Rivercrest would follow up with a 76-59 win over Hawkins to advance to the Area Round. Up next Clarksville will face North Hopkins while Rivercrest is up against Martins Mill. Game times and location are still to be determined. Meanwhile, the Paris Wildcats season ends in heartbreak at the hands of Mabank, 46-43. North Lamar is eliminated at the hands of Van, 58-35 and the Prairiland Patriots are eliminated by Hughes Springs, 54-42.
Mount Pleasant – The Mt Vernon Lady Tigers hang on to eliminate the Winnsboro Lady Raiders, 52-51. The Lady Tigers will be up against Sunnyvale to start the Class 3A Region II Tournament Friday night at 6:00 pm at Rockwall Heath High School. The Chapel Hill Lady Devils will follow at 8:00 pm against Pottsboro. The Chapel Hill Boys knock out Queen City, 49-37 and will match up with Jefferson in the Area round. Mt Vernon crushes New Boston, 88-56 and will play White Oak. Hughes Springs takes down Prairiland, 54-42. The Mustangs will draw Troup next. Daingerfield will play Sabine following their win on Monday, while the Mt Pleasant Tigers win a thriller in overtime over Forney, 57-55. In the Area Playoff, the Tigers will take on Frisco Liberty. And The Saltillo Lions win 64-36 over Avinger as the Saltillo girls see their season end at the hands of Slidell, 49-40.
Sulphur Springs – The Mt Vernon Lady Tigers hang on to eliminate the Winnsboro Lady Raiders, 52-51. The Saltillo girls, meanwhile, see their season end at the hands of Slidell, 49-40. The Sulphur Springs Wildcats crush Lucas Lovejoy, 50-27 and will be up against Frisco Lone Star in the Area Round at Princeton on Friday night at 7:00 pm. The Mt Vernon Boys breeze past New Boston, 88-56 and will play White Oak.  The Commerce Tigers continue their success with an opening round win over 62-57 over Pilot Point. Next up for the Tigers is a meeting with Alba-Golden, who defeated Sunnyvale, 65-47. North Hopkins draws the Clarksville Tigers in the Area round after their win on Monday. Yantis will match up with Dodd City while Miller Grove plays Irving Universal.
The Dallas Mavericks organization is now the focus sexual and domestic misconduct. Former Mavericks CEO, Terdema Ussery and beat writer Earl K. Sneed are lowlighted in an SI article regarding their actions. Sneed was involved in domestic assault of his girlfriend, while Ussery is accused of sexual misconduct in the workplace. More than half a dozen women claim to have left their jobs either with the Mavs or with American Airlines due to the sexual nature of the work environment. Team owner, Mark Cuban, pledged for an overhaul within the organization and claims he was unaware of the assault and harassments that had transpired.
And the PyeongChang Medal Counter shows Norway sprinting away with 32 medals total and 12 gold. Team USA added to their total yesterday with a gold medal finish in cross-country skiing, while Lindsey Vonn grabs a bronze medal in the downhill. Team USA has 14 medals total with six gold.
