Local Rainouts Plus Cowboys Schedule Released

Paris – District play for area high school baseball and softball took to the diamond Friday night. The North Lamar Pantherette’s come away with a dominating 22-0 win against crosstown rival Paris. The victory gives the North Lamar Softball team a 6-3 record in district 15-4A, where they’re currently in 3rd place. Paris vs. North Lamar baseball was canceled and will be rescheduled for a later date. The Prairiland Patriots and Lady Patriots drop a couple of close games to DeKalb with the baseball team falling 4-3 in 13 innings, while the Lady Pats were shut out 3-0.

Mount Pleasant – District play for area high school baseball and softball teams took to the diamond Friday night. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers and Lady Tigers suffered a sweep at the hands of Hallsville with the baseball team falling 5-3 and softball losing 6-2. Despite the loss the Lady Tiger’s remain in 2nd place in district 15-5A with a 9-3 record. And in non-district baseball action the Rivercrest Rebels take down Chisum 9-5. Meanwhile, tomorrow night the Pittsburg Pirates and Lady Pirates are on the road against Paris. And Chapel Hill and Daingerfield square off in Morris County.

Sulphur Springs – District play for area high school baseball and softball teams took to the diamond Friday night. The Sulphur Springs Wildcats and Lady Cats swept Greenville with a pair of shut out victories. The baseball team picked up a 10-0 win and improve to 4-6 in district 15-5A. Lady Cat softball won 5-0 and stay on pace for the post season with an 8-4 record and are currently in 3rd place. Meanwhile, Winnboro baseball and softball will take on Grand Saline at home tomorrow. Softball starts at 4:30, baseball first pitch is at 7.

Yesterday afternoon’s game between the Rangers and Orioles was canceled due to weather and is rescheduled for June 20th. Texas did, however, pick up an 8-4 win on Saturday night. Mitch Moreland put the Rangers ahead for good in the 7th [AUDIO]. The Rangers and Astros begin their first game of the Lone Star series tomorrow night [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm] at 7:05pm.

In the NHL playoffs the Dallas Stars go up 2-0 in the opening round series against Minnesota after Saturday’s 2-1 win at home. Jamie Benn and Antoine Roussel scored the goals for Dallas. Now the series will shift north to Minnesota for game three tonight. Puck drop between the Stars and Wild is scheduled for 7:30.

And in the NBA several game 1’s resulted in blowouts, including the Mavs falling to OKC 108-70. The Golden State Warriors crushed Houston 104-78 and San Antonio Spurs throttling Memphis 106-74. Tonight the Mavs and Thunder play game two at 7pm, followed by the Warriors and Rockets at 9:30.

And the 2016 NFL schedules have been released. The Dallas Cowboys will open their season at home against the New York Giants on September 11th. Washington visits AT&T Stadium for the annual thanksgiving game, and the ‘Boys wrap up the season on the road against Philly.
