Local Sports Plus Stars Drive to Cup Begins Tonight

Paris – It was an ugly day and the site had to be changed, but the Prairiland Patriots and Cooper Bulldogs were able to get on the field in Mt. Vernon, where the Patriots would come out on top 8-1. Next, the Patriots will be at DeKalb tomorrow while Cooper hosts New Boston. Other action on Friday night will feature round two of the crosstown showdown, this time at Pos Long Field on the North Lamar Campus. The Wildcats and Panthers can be heard live on KOYN 93.9. Pre game begins at 6:20. First pitch is at 6:30.

Mt. Pleasant – Weather conditions have forced the Mt. Pleasant Lady Tiger softball team to reschedule their contest with Sulphur Springs, once again. Following yesterday’s rain out the Lady Tigers will host the Lady Cats today on the MPHS campus. First pitch is at 5:30. Tomorrow night the Mt. Pleasant baseball and softball teams will take on Hallsville in district 15-5A play. Also Friday night the Chapel Hill Red Devils and Lady Devils host Mt. Vernon. And the Pittsburg Pirates and Lady Pirates will host Liberty Eylau.

Sulphur Springs – Weather conditions have forced the Sulphur Springs Lady Cat softball team to reschedule their contest with Mt. Pleasant, once again. Following yesterday’s rain out the Lady Cats will travel to the MPHS campus today to take on the Lady Tigers. First pitch is at 5:30. District play will continue tomorrow night with Sulphur springs baseball and softball taking on the Greenville Lions with the Wildcats at home at 7pm. The Lady Cats are on the road at 6. And the Mt. Vernon Tigers and Lady Tigers will visit the Chapel Hill Red Devils and Lady Devils.

Last night in Major League Baseball the Texas Rangers fall to the Seattle Mariners 4-2, but win two out of three in the series. Delino Deshields scored both runs for the Rangers, including a long ball but it wouldn’t be enough as the Rangers fall to 5-5. Texas returns to Globe Life Park in Arlington tonight to begin a four game set against the Baltimore Orioles. First pitch tonight [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm] is set for 7:05.

In the NHL the Dallas Stars begin post season play this evening against the Minnesota Wild. The Stars with 109 points, finished as the top seed in the western conference. Puck drop tonight is set for 8:30.

And in the NBA the Golden State Warriors go 73-9 on the season behind 46 points and 10 Steph Curry 3 pointers. The best season in NBA history. Curry finished with 402 three pointers made. While Kobe Bryant bids farewell after 20 seasons and he went out with a bang scoring 60 points in the Lakers 101-96 victory over the Utah Jazz.
