More HS Baseball and Softball Playoffs Plus Rangers Split with Padres

Paris – Area softball and baseball teams continue postseason play starting tomorrow.  The Detroit Eagle’s play game one against Union Grove tomorrow at 7pm at Lindale.  The Cooper Bulldogs play New Diana in a one game playoff Thursday at Van High School beginning at 7.  On Friday the Paris Wildcats play games one and two against Gilmer at NTCC in Mt. Pleasant.  Both games will be carried live on 101.9 KBUS.  First pitch to game one is at 5:30.  In softball one game regional quarterfinal playoffs on Friday night, the North Lamar Pantherette’s face Rusk at Grand Saline on MIX 107.7 at 6pm.  The Prairiland Lady Patriots are up against Hughes Springs at NTCC at 7.  The Honey Grove Lady Warriors take on Tom Bean at 7:30 at Texas A&M-Commerce and the Rivercrest Lady Rebels play Crossroads in Mineola at 6pm.
Mount Pleasant – Area softball and baseball teams continue postseason play this weekend.  The 4th ranked Hughes Springs Lady Mustangs will be challenged by the 13th ranked Prairiland Lady Patriots in a one game playoff.  First pitch on Friday night on KLAKE 97.7 will be at 7pm at NTCC in Mt. Pleasant.  The Mustang baseball team takes on Troup in a best of three series in Longview.  Game one is Thursday night at 7pm.  All games will be carried live on STAR 96.9.  Game two is scheduled for Friday at 7 and game three will be Saturday Atat noon, if necessary.  And the Pittsburg Lady Pirates are in a best of three series as well, taking on Carthage.  Game one is scheduled for Thursday at 6pm at Letourneau University with game two Friday at 7:30. game three will be Saturday at 1pm if necessary. And Rivercrest softball faces Crossroads Friday at 6pm in Mineola Friday.
Sulphur Springs – Area softball and baseball teams continue postseason play this weekend.  The Sulphur Springs Wildcats look to notch another playoff victory under their belts, taking on Frisco Wakeland out of District 13-5A.  It’ll be a best of three series between Sulphur Springs and Wakeland with game one scheduled for Thursday at Eagle Park with first pitch set for 7:30.  Game two will be played Friday in Frisco at Wakeland at 7:30.  And game three would be Saturday at Rockewall Heath at 1pm, if necessary.  The Yantis Owls open their playoff journey against Trinidad, playing best of three. All games are at Kemp ISD. Game one is Thursday at 7. Game two is Friday at 7 and game three is Saturday at 1pm if necessary.  And the Sulphur Bluff Bears take on Union Hill.
The Texas Rangers destroy the San Diego Padres yesterday afternoon, 11-0.  Joey Gallo drove in three runs on the day, including a two run bomb in the 3rd inning.  AJ Griffin went the distance, giving up no runs on four hits in nine innings.  The Rangers and Padres shift their series to Globe Life Park in Arlington tonight.  First pitch [on kplt 1490am and 96.3fm] is set for 7:05.
In the NBA Conference Semi-Finals, the San Antonio Spurs edge out the Houston Astros, 110-107 to take a 3-2 series lead.  Kawhi Leonard dropped in 22 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and added four assists
And in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Ottawa Senators close out the 2nd round, beating New York Rangers, 4-2 in game six.
