One Dead In Multi-Vehicle NE Texas Crash

On August 11, at approximately 5:40 p.m., Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to a multi-vehicle crash on I-30 at the #201 mile post, east of the New Boston.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that traffic was slowing down and coming to a stop due to an earlier crash on I-30 at the #200 mile post. Vehicle #2, a passenger car, was struck by Vehicle #1, a Truck-Tractor, after it had stopped behind Vehicle #3, a second Truck-Tractor that was stopped in the right lane. Vehicle #2 was engulfed in flames immediately after being struck by Vehicle #1.

Vehicle #4, a Tanker-Truck that was stopped in the left lane next to vehicle #3, received minor damage after being struck by Vehicle #2.

Vehicle #1, while on fire, continued traveling on the right shoulder, striking Vehicle #5, a second passenger car. Both vehicles were engulfed in flames soon after the collision.

The drivers of Vehicle #1 and #5 were transported to area hospitals in Texarkana. A sixth vehicle, received some damage from after the explosion of Vehicles #1 and #5.

The driver of the Vehicle #2 was identified as Heather Vanessa Higgs from New Boston. Heather was pronounced on scene by Judge Young.

Drivers of vehicles #3,4 and 6 were not injured.

This crash remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
