Paris Junior College Regents lowered the tax rate in the current district by a penny, to 17 cents per hundred valuation. The regents also officially voted to put an item on the November election ballot creating new taxing districts in portions Hopkins, Delta, Lamar, Red River and Fannin Counties. If approved by voters, an 8.5 cent tax would be levied on the property of those districts approving it. College officials say they need the additional districts because of the uncertainty of state funding.
