Paris Runners Take Boys District Title

Paris senior Matt Cochran defended his individual district championship and led the Paris Wildcats to a first-place finish overall at Saturday’s District 14-4A Cross Country Championships held at North Lamar.
Junior Lilly Lewis had the top finish for the Ladycats with a fourth-place showing.
The top three teams and top 10 individuals qualify for the Region 2-4A Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie.
Cochran took the lead at the midpoint of the 3-mile race and had a cushion of more than 100 yards at the finish line over second place. PHS sophomore JP Rojas finished third; sophomore Kyler Beshirs was fifth, senior Seth Hudgins sixth and freshman Gavyn Hollje seventh. Other members of the district champion boys team were senior Christian Mitchell (17th) and senior Jose Resendiz (21st).
