Paris Wildcats Drop Game One Plus Darvish Continues Rehab

 

Paris – Last night in high school playoff baseball the Paris Wildcats drop game one of their Area Round best of three series to Athens 4-0. Facing elimination, Paris will play game two tomorrow afternoon at Mesquite’s Tillery Field. First pitch on 101.9 KBUS is set for 1pm. Game three would follow if necessary. Tonight the North Lamar baseball and softball teams will be in action. The Panthers are in a one game Area Round playoff with Mabank at Sulphur Springs high school. The game will be live on KOYN 93.9 with first pitch at 6:30. The North Lamar softball team will play game one this evening on MIX 107.7. First pitch from the circle at NTCC in Mt. Pleasant is set for 6pm. Game two would follow immediately after and game three is Saturday at 2pm if necessary.

Mount Pleasant- The Area Round of baseball playoffs continue through the weekend while the regional quarterfinals in softball began last night. The Hughes Springs Lady Mustangs jump out to a 1-0 lead in their best of three series after last night’s 4-2 win over the Redwater Lady Dragons. Game three, if necessary, is tomorrow afternoon at 2. Meanwhile, the Hughes Springs baseball team will take on Farmersville. The Chapel Hill Red Devils face Edgewood and the Pittsburg Pirates will take on the Canton Eagles in the Area round tonight at Mike Carter Field in Tyler. First pitch is set for 7:30.

Sulphur Springs – The Area Round of high school baseball playoffs picks back up this evening while the softball regional quarterfinals began last night. The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats see their season come to an end at the hands of Mansfield Legacy 12-4. The Sulphur Springs softball team finished their season as the 3rd place team out of district 15-5A and won Bi-District and Area championships. Meanwhile, Sulphur Springs high school will be hosting an area round playoff baseball game this evening when the North Lamar Panthers take on Mabank. First pitch will be at 6:30. And the North Hopkins baseball team will be in action in the area round with a best of three series against Harleton starting with games one and two tonight at 5 in Mineola. Game three, if necessary, will be at the same location on Saturday at noon.

After an off day yesterday the Texas Rangers begin a three game home set against the Toronto Blue Jays. Texas will send Martin Perez to the hill with a 1-2 record and a 3.51 ERA. The Jays counter with former Ranger R. A. Dickey. First pitch this evening [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm] is scheduled for 7:05.

Meanwhile, Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish continued his rehab assignments last night for Triple-A Round Rock throwing 54 pitches over four innings of work while giving up only one run on one hit and striking out four. Darvish, is set to return from Tommy John surgery by late May or early June.

And in the NBA playoffs, the Western Conference Finals has been set. Last night the OKC Thunder eliminated the San Antonio Spurs 4 games to 2 after a 113-99 win at home. The Thunder will take on Golden State win the Western Conference Finals with game one set for Monday at 8pm.
