Paris Wins Bi-District More NE Texas Playoff Games Set for Tonight

Paris – The Texas high school football playoffs kicked off last night across the state. The defense led the way as the Paris Wildcats shut out Crandall 21-0. Paris will take on the winner of Alvarado and Springtown. The Detroit Eagles see their season come to an end, falling to Meridian 68-38. Tonight, the North Lamar Panthers face Terrell in Terrell on MIX 107.7 and the Rivercrest Rebels take on Kerens at Emory Rains on KOYN 93.9. Tonight’s games kickoff at 7:30. A pair of Red River Valley volleyball teams will be in action at their respective regional tournaments this evening. The North Lamar Pantherette’s take on Aryle at Mesquite Poteet High School at 8pm. The Detroit Lady Eagles will be up against top ranked Iola at Longview High School at 4 this afternoon.

Mount Pleasant – The Texas high school football playoffs kicked off last night across the state. The Pittsburg Pirates face off against Jasper in the bi-district round at Palestine on KLAKE 97.7. On Star Country 96.9 the Paul Pewitt Brahmas go up against Big Sandy Harmony at Pine Tree Stadium. Both games kick off at 7:30. And tomorrow night the Mt. Pleasant Tigers travel to Dallas Cowboys Headquarters in Frisco where they’ll take on the Highland Park Scots at The Star. Kickoff on KLAKE 97.7 is at 1pm Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, last night the Mt. Vernon Tigers saw their season come to a close at the hands of 10th ranked White Oak 46-12.

Sulphur Springs – The Texas high school football playoffs kicked off last night across the state. The Cumby Trojans advance to the area round after taking down Hubbard 52-36. Cumby will take on Iola next weekend. The Mt. Vernon Tigers saw their season come to a close at the hands of 10th ranked White Oak 46-12, while the Winnsboro Red Raiders come up short in a thriller against Jefferson, 43-36. The Bi-District round continues tonight. The Sulphur Springs Wildcats will be featured on Star Country 95.9 this evening when they face off with Mesquite Poteet at Lindale and the Emory Rains Wildcats meet Celina at Mesquite Memorial Stadium. Both games kick off at 7:30.

Last night the Dallas Stars pick up a win over Calgary 4-2. Lauri Korpikoski and Jamie Benn netted a pair of goals in the 1st period while Benn and Antoine Roussel scored in the 3rd. With the win the Stars are 5-6-3 on the season with 13 points and will be back in action tonight at Edmonton. Puck drop is at 8pm.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has been a full participant in practice for the past two days, but could be left off the game day roster until next week. Romo suffered a compression fracture in his back in the pre-season, giving way to rookie Dak Prescott.

On Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys look for their eighth straight win when they travel to clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Cowboys are 7-1 and are the only team in the league to have not allowed a 100 yard receiver or rusher this season. Pittsburgh is 4-4. Kick off on Sunday afternoon [on 101.9 KBUS] is set for 3:25.
