Rangers Trounce M’s Plus Cowboys Wrap Pre-Season Tonight

Paris – Tomorrow night area teams play week two of the Texas high school football season. The Paris Wildcats host the Pleasant Grove Hawks on 101.9 KBUS. The North Lamar Panthers welcome in Mt. Pleasant on MIX 107.7. Our KOYN game of the week will feature the Prairiland Patriots hosting Queen City on 93.9. In other action around the area the Chisum Mustangs travel to take on the Honey Grove Warriors. The Cooper Bulldogs host Emory Rains. Detroit is at Como-Pickton and Rivercrest will travel to Trenton. All games kick off at 7:30.

Mount Pleasant – Area football teams play week 2 of the Texas high school football season starting tonight. For the second straight week the Hughes Springs Mustangs play on Thursday night, this time against the Arp Tigers. Kick off on Star 96.9 has been moved from 7 to 7:30. Tomorrow night the Paul Pewitt Brahmas will also be on Star Country when they face the Jefferson Bulldogs and the Mt. Pleasant Tigers are on the road against the North Lamar Panthers on K LAKE 97.7. Pittsburg hosts Pine Tree. Daingerfield travels to Atlanta. Mt. Vernon welcomes Brook Hill. And Gilmer will host Center. All games kick off at 7:30.

Sulphur Springs – Area football teams play week 2 of the Texas high school football season. Yesterday the Sulphur Springs Wildcats arrived in Orlando, Florida, where they’ll take on the Seminole Ridge Hawks. Sulphur Springs is 1-0 after a 43-42 win last week over Sherman. Kickoff on Friday night is set for 8pm. In other area action the Mt. Vernon Tigers host Brook Hill. The Cooper Bulldogs host Emory Rains. Commerce travels to Leonard. Como-Pickton will host Detroit. And Quinlan Ford will travel to Winnsboro. All games kick off at 7:30.

Yesterday afternoon the Texas Rangers compete a sweep of the Seattle Mariners in blowout fashion, winning 14-1. Texas smashed five home runs, including two from Rougned Odor and a bomb from Carlos Gomez with the bases chucked. The Rangers are 80-54 on the season and lead the AL West by 8.5 games against their next opponent on Friday, the Houston Astros.

Tonight [on 101.9 KBUS] the Dallas Cowboys finish up the pre-season against the Houston Texans at AT&T Stadium. Starters are not expected to play much, if any time in the final preseason game. The bulk of the time will go to players on the bubble for the final cut down. The Cowboys must trim the roster down to 53 by Saturday, September 3rd at 3pm. Kickoff tomorrow night [on the BUS] is at 7pm.
