With the High School Softball State Championships down, only the State Baseball Tournament remains to be played in the 2015-2016 school year. The tournament begins with the Class 2A, 3A and 4A Semi-Finals tomorrow in Round Rock and Austin. To open the day, Stamford will face Beckville at 9am, followed by Bosqueville versus Flatonia. Van Alstyne then takes on Banquete while West faces Shallowater. And to close out the day Waco Robinson faces off with Salado and district 15-4A Champion, Pleasant Grove is up against Abilene Wylie. Thursday will feature the Class 2A, 3A, and 4A State Title games, as well as the Class 5A Semi-Finals.

Last night the Texas Rangers beat the Houston Astros 6-5 to open up their four game series. With the game knotted up in the bottom of the 9th, it was Roogie to the rescue with a walk-off RBI double. With the walk-off, the Rangers have now won four in a row, sporting a 35-22 record and lead the AL West by four games. Texas and Houston play game two tonight at Globe Life Park. First pitch [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm] is scheduled for 7:05pm Central Time.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are on the verge of winning Lord Stanley’s Cup after winning game four last night 3-1 over San Jose. Pittsburgh leads the series 3-1, meaning the cup will be in the house on Thursday for game five at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh. Puck drop is at 7pm.

And the world of Mixed Martial Arts suffered a tragic loss last night when 42-year old Bellator fighter Kimbo Slice died at a Florida hospital yesterday. The cause of death is currently unknown and the reason for Slice being hospitalized remains undisclosed.
