State Leaders To Discuss Vote On Water Rights

DURANT – An item Oklahomans will decide on the Nov. 8 ballot will set the direction for one of Oklahoma’s most valuable natural resources – water. Oklahomans for Responsible Water Policy is providing an opportunity for voters to educate themselves before going into the voting booth on the state’s right to sustainable, scientific water management.

A “Local & State Candidate Forum & Sardis Lake Panel” will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 in the Eastern Oklahoma State College Auditorium, 1802 E. College Ave, McAlester, OK 74501. This historic meeting is free and open to the public.

Speakers will include Chief Gary Batton of the Choctaw Nation, Gov. Bill Anoatubby of the Chickasaw Nation, City Manager Jim Couch of Oklahoma City, Council for the Choctaw Nation Mike Burrage, Council for the Chickasaw Nation Stephen Greetham, and J.D. Strong, executive director of the Water Resources Board.
