Franklin County – FM 3122
PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that a portion of FM 3122 in Franklin County would be closed from Monday through Thursday (Jul 11-14) for culvert repair.

Contractor Highway 19 Construction of Sulphur Springs will replace a collapsed cross culvert on this portion of FM 3122 north of Lake Cypress Springs. This project is part of a maintenance repair contract for more than $277,000 recently awarded to the contractor.

The temporary closure will occur approximately eight-tenths of a mile east of the intersection of FM 3122 and FM 115. The contractor will remove the old culvert pipe, replace it with new pipe, install safety end treatments, rebuild the embankment and place new rock rip-rap, TxDOT officials said.

Warning signs will alert motorists to the upcoming closure, and detour signs will direct motorists to alternate routes while this work is underway. Through traffic will detour onto FM 115 to FM 21, and then to FM 2723.

Motorists should pay particular attention to all signs, barricades and traffic controls, and reduce their speed as they approach the detours for this work zone. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems when driving.

The closure will occur so crews can rebuild the KCS railroad cross that crosses State Highway 19 approximately 1,000 feet north of the intersection of SH 19, Hillcrest Drive, and BU 67, Main Street. The road will close at this intersection from 2:00 am, Saturday (Jul 9) through late evening Sunday (Jul 10).

All through traffic will be detoured onto State Loop 301 or I-30 frontage roads. Signs will clearly mark the detours for through traffic, TxDOT officials said.

Motorists should pay particular attention to all signs, barricades and traffic controls, and reduce their speed as they approach the detours for this work zone. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems when driving.
