UPDATE Escaped East Texas Inmate Captured

An escaped Van Zandt County inmate is back in custody. Jay McEvers was apprehended on VZCR 3418 after having vehicle trouble with the second vehicle he stole after the escape. He was transported back to jail and a charge of 1^st Degree Felony Escape with a bond of $500,000 was added to his offenses. McEvers’s mother Carolyn has a bond of $50,000 on her charge of facilitating escape. McEvers’s girlfriend Cynthia Heese was not complying with the book in process and has not been arraigned  on her class c misdemeanor charges.
