Volleyball Playoffs Resume Plus High Football Preview

The Texas High School Football playoff picture is starting to take shape while the volleyball playoffs continue on.
Paris – Matchups in the Area round will include the Prairiland Lady Patriots up against Beckville. The North Lamar Pantherettes take on Rusk and tonight the Rivercrest Lady Rebels play Timpson at Longview High at 6:30Tomorrow night on the gridiron, the Paris Wildcats can lock up a playoff spot on the road at Anna on 101.9 KBUS. The North Lamar Panthers are at R.L. Maddox Stadium on MIX 107.7 against Quinlan Ford. The Prairiland Patriots welcome in S&S Consolidated on KOYN 93.9. The Chisum Mustangs bring in Leonard. Rivercrest hosts James Bowie at The Swamp. Cooper is at home against Whitewright. Clarksville hosts Dallas Gateway. Detroit brings in Cumby and Honey Grove welcomes in Quinlan Boles.

The STAR 96.9 Game of the Week will feature the Daingerfield Tigers on the road against New Diana. Rivercrest welcomes in James Bowie. Pittsburg will go to Gladewater. Paul Pewitt visits Queen City. Hughes Springs travels to Redwater and the Gilmer Buckeyes host Atlanta.
Sulphur Springs – Matchups in the area include the Mt Vernon Lady Tigers on the court tonight in Mineola to take on White Oak at 6:30. Yantis will take on Leveretts. Miller Grove and Sulphur Bluff have a bye in the Area Round. Tomorrow night on the gridiron, the Sulphur Springs Wildcats host a 16-5A Rivalry when they Greenville Lions come to Prim Stadium on STAR 95.9. The Cooper Bulldogs bring in Whitewright. Como-Pickton goes to Lone Oak. Mt Vernon looks to stay perfect when they welcome in Farmersville. Commerce hosts Mineola. Emory Rains goes to Canton and the Campbell Indians host Exel Homeschool.
Last night the Dallas Mavericks fall to the L-A Clippers, 119-98. The rookie guard, Dennis Smith, Jr., lead the way with 18 points as the Mavs drop to 1-8 on the season. Dallas will return home tomorrow night to host the New Orleans Pelicans, while the Dallas Stars are in action tonight in Winnipeg at 7:00 pm.
The first NCAA Men’s hoops rankings are out with the Duke Blue Devils taking the top spot. Michigan State, Arizona, Kansas and Kentucky round out the top five.
And in what will go down as one of the greatest World Series the game has ever known, the Houston Astros win game seven, 5-1 over the LA Dodgers. George Springer was named World Series MVP after tying a Fall Classic record with five home runs. Charlie Morton was the winning pitcher in game seven while Yu Darvish was dealt the loss for the Dodgers.
