Weekend Activities Around Paris

The Paris Rodeo and Horse Club  is hosting its Exceptional Rodeo this morning at the Lamar County Fairgrounds for special needs children from   Rivercrest, Deport, Bonham, Cooper, Paris and other area communities. Activities include horseback riding, face painting, hayrides, a petting zoo and dummy roping for the kids and activities for family members as all. The event begins at 9:30.  Donations will be accepted to purchase  t-shirts for the exceptional children participating.

 

Elks Lodge has a Veterans Breakfast the third Saturday of the month at the Lodge. (5/21)

The Red River Valley Veterans Memorial committee are raffling off another classic car. This time it’s a fully restored 1973 Mach I Mustang convertible! It will be given away Memorial Day 2016. Tickets are $15 each or 2 for $25! They’re  on the corner or Lamar @ Collegiate (most days)  and at area events.

 

Powderly VFD selling tickets for a 12 gun raffle. 500 tickets available and all must be sold before able to do drawing.  Tickets are $25 a piece. And name if ticket holder stays in the drawing all twelve weeks. Rules apply, can inquire on our Facebook page.  Rules are attached to file that holds a copy of what our tickets are. And list of guns as well. Once tickets are sold they will draw a gun per week. If anyone is interested in purchasing, contact can be made on our Facebook page Powderly VFD by messenger or post. Or contact any member.  Will be setting up at various events and will notify when we know more.

Friday, May 20th will be a lunch for National Police Week at the love Civic Center from 11am to 2pm as well as a blue balloon release to show support for local law enforcement.

 

The Rufe Volunteer Fire Department 27th Annual Auction and Supper is Saturday May 21st. It’s a country style meal with all of the trimmings starting at 4pm. Political candidates will speak at 5 and an auction at 6pm.

The 8th Annual Sporting Clays Challenge is Saturday May 21st at Rusty Lowe Ranch in Clarksville. The cost is $500 per team ($100 per person). There will also be a firearms raffle. Exercise your Second Amendment Rights and help out the NETSEO Council of the Boy Scouts!

Maxey House Book Club: The Language of the Flowers

Join them as they continue the Maxey House Book Club! Every month, we will get together and discuss a different book. They meet in person in the Maxey House at 3 p.m.  On May 22nd, they will be reading and discussing The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh.
