Bill Expands “Baby Moses” Law

A bill to increase the number of safe places to surrender infants passed the Texas Senate unanimously on Thursday. State Senator Bryan Hughes of Mineola, representing most of Northeast Texas, proposed the law. It expands the Texas “Baby Moses” law that states a parent can give up a newborn to specific medical facilities. In addition, it improves the ability of parents to give up a child safely and anonymously.
