From Reno Police Chief Matt Birch
On Saturday afternoon August 20th, 2016 at about 12:23pm, Reno Police responded to a reckless driver call after the driver of a white F150 pickup nearly ran someone off the road. The caller stated the F150 pickup was on Madewell Road heading south toward Highway 82 and was still swerving.
Reno Police then caught up with the vehicle at the area of Madewell Road (CR43900). During the stop the driver was observed with slurred speech and appeared to not know where she was. Assisted by Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers and Lamar County Sheriff’s Deputies; field sobriety tests were administered and the female driver was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated.
Arrested was Jaime Renee Payne, 40 years old of Grand Prairie, Texas. She was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. During the search post arrest, Payne was also found to be in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine. Because of the discovery, Payne also incurred an additional charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group One, less than one gram.
