Paris – Today begins one of the longest sports traditions in Paris, as local golfers gather for the 70th annual 4th of July Tournament. The tournament boasts quite a history. Paris native Leland Hammon not only was a founding father of the Paris 4th of July Invitational, but also played in the first Masters tournament in 1935. The opening round will begin on Friday and finish with round three on Sunday.

Yesterday afternoon the Texas Rangers fall again in the 9th inning to the Yankee’s 2-1. Texas won the first two games of the series, but after their second straight loss in walk off fashion they finish with a four game split. Despite consecutive losses, the Rangers remain 8.5 games ahead of the Astros in the AL West. Seven of the next 10 games before the All-Star break will be against the American Leagues worst team, the Minnesota Twins, beginning tonight [on kplt 1490am and 96.3fm]. First pitch is at 7:10.

Yesterday afternoon Coastal Carolina completed the comeback beating Arizona 4-3 to take the College World Series title.

News broke yesterday afternoon that Dallas Cowboys Linebacker, Rolando McClain, has been suspended for the first 10 games of the upcoming season for violating the leagues substance abuse policy. Shortly after, the league announced the appeal for Cowboys defensive end, DeMarcus Lawrence, has been denied and he will also be suspended for the first four games of the season.

The NBA Free Agency season begins today. The Dallas Mavericks have their wish list made up and are expected to be the favorites to land Miami Heat free agent Center, Hassan Whiteside. Dallas will also have meetings set up with Memphis point guard Mike Conley as well as Charlotte Hornets forward Nick Batum.

And at Wimbledon, 2nd ranked Andy Murray defeated Yen-Hsun Lu in three sets. Today, top ranked Novak Djokovic will take on 28th Sam Querrey. 3rd ranked Rodger Federer is up against Daniel Evans.
