Students from Aaron Parker Elementary who were tested during the 2015-2016 school year stand below a banner that now hangs in front of the rock school located in Powderly, Texas. The North Lamar ISD campus that houses around 240 students met six out of six of the Texas Educations Agency’s Accountability Standards.
“Our students and staff are elated to have earned such a perfect set of distinctions.” said Principal Tammie Bates. “It took much effort and hard work throughout the year, and now we get to celebrate the results.”
District TEA ratings are based largely on performance on state standardized tests and graduation rates. Parker’s ratings were based on student achievement in math, ELA/reading and science, student progress, efforts to close the achievement gap, and postsecondary readiness.
Continuing Bates said, “The Aaron Parker staff team focuses on meeting the needs of individual students as well as setting high academic standards and as a result, our students love coming to school! In addition, we are fortunate to have such wonderful parent, family, and community support.”
