All Conference For PJC Players Plus High School Softball And Baseball

 

PJC announced the all-conference selections from their baseball team on Tuesday.

Tyler Mendoza 2nd Team 2B
Mendoza finished the season ranked 4th nationally in stolen bases with 37.

For the second time in the program’s four-season history, the Texas A&M University-Commerce softball team has been selected to participate in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament. The Lions are the fourth seed in the region. The Lions will play in a double elimination tournament on the campus of Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colo., played May 10-12. The winner of the bracket will advance to the Super Regional Tournament, held May 17-18.

In baseball, it’s Area round games this week. The Hughes Springs Mustangs will take on New Diana in a three-game series at ETBU. Game 1 is Friday at 5:00 pm on KLAKE 977. Game 2 is Saturday at 12:00 noon, with Game 3 to follow, if necessary. Both those games will be on STAR 969.

Sulphur Springs Wildcat baseball team has also advanced to Area round.
They will face Prosper in a best-of-three series at Rockwall High School.
Game 1 on Friday at 7:30 pm. Game 2 on Saturday at 1:00 pm with Game 3 to follow, if necessary.

A reminder about upcoming softball Regional Quarterfinal action this week. Friday the Hughes Springs Lady Mustangs will take on Hooks in a one-game series at NTCC. First pitch at 6:00 pm on STAR 969.

The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats will start a three-game series against Forney. Game 1 will be Friday at 7:00 pm at Forney. Game 2 will be at Lady Cat Park on Saturday at 11:00 am. Game 3, if necessary, will take place after game two.

And the Rangers fell to Detroit 7-4 last night in Arlington. Adrian Beltre had a huge night in his first game back from the DL. Beltre finished with two runs batted in on those three hits. The Rangers and Tigers will play the rubber match of their series today on 1490 AM and 96.3 FM KPLT – Bartolo Colon will be on the mound for Texas. Pregame at 12:30 first pitch at 1:05.

Fresh off the best season of his NFL career, and heading into the final year of his contract, New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram has been suspended four games for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances. Ingram, 28, will miss games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons and New York Giants. He will be eligible to return to the Saints’ active roster on Monday, Oct. 1. Ingram will be eligible to participate in all offseason practices and preseason games.

Former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel was hospitalized Monday for a “reaction” to a prescription. On Instagram, Manziel posted: “Thank you for your concern and kind messages. Unfortunately, I had a reaction to an increased dosage of Lithium which I take for my Bipolar disorder. It was a scary moment and I’m especially grateful for the staff at the hospital and all that they’ve done in the last 24 hours.”
