Reward Offered for Most Wanted Fugitive, Gang Member from Starr County

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has added Andrew Jerome Belmontes, 26, to the Texas Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, and a cash reward up to $7,500 now offered for information leading to his capture. Belmontes, affiliated with the Texas Chicano Brotherhood gang, is wanted for parole violation. All tips are guaranteed to be anonymous.

Belmontes has been wanted since September 2017 and has ties to Starr County (including Roma and Rio Grande City) and the Houston area (including Pasadena). In 2014, Starr County convicted Belmontes on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was released on parole from state prison in June 2017. His last known address was in Roma.

Belmontes is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. He has tattoos of “BELMONTES” on his back. There is a “TCB,” with a star inside the “B” on his chest He has Roman numerals “XX III-II” on the inside of his upper right arm. Also, “Flako” on his right forearm, “Andrew” on his upper right arm, and other tattoos on his abdomen, back, chest, neck, and both arms. Texas Crime Stoppers, which is funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division, offers cash rewards to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of one of the Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitives or sex offenders. Last year, Texas Crime Stoppers paid $61,000 in total rewards for anonymous tips that resulted in arrests.

To be eligible for the cash rewards, tipsters must provide information to authorities using one of the five following methods:

Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).

Text the letters “DPS” – followed by your tip – to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.

Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture.

Submit a Facebook tip by clicking the “SUBMIT A TIP” link (under the “About” section).

Submit a tip through the DPS Mobile App. The app is currently available for iPhone users on the Apple App Store and Android users on Google Play.

All tips are anonymous – regardless of how they are submitted – and tipsters will be provided a tip number instead of using a name.
