Governor Appoints New Wood County DA

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed a new District Attorney for Wood County, subject to state Senate approval. First Assistant DA, Angela Albers, will become the county’s chief prosecutor, to replace Jim Wheeler, who stepped down amid a Texas Rangers investigation into Official Oppression. Her term will expire at the end of next year or until an election is held to name her successor.
