Gov. Greg Abbott says he will not order another statewide shutdown in Texas, even with a massive spike in COVID-19 cases. Abbott called shutdowns ineffective because he said studies have shown that people are not catching the virus when they are going to work or going to the store. He claims COVID-19 is spreading when people gather together to socialize within homes or with people they know. With the surge of COVID-19 cases across the entire region, the medical community asks the governor to restrict in-door dining and bars temporarily.
