From dressing their cat up in a vacation costume to must-win video games on Christmas morning, a brand new research reveals a few of people’s quirky festive traditions. According to a survey from Kohl’s Department Store conducted by OnePoll:
- 52% of Americans say they work to replicate holidays from their childhood, as they continue to celebrate the majority of traditions they had while growing up.
- 50% report celebrating traditions that have been passed down in their family for generations
- 32% are continuing traditions from their grandparents
- 72% carry on traditions from their great-grandparents or before
- 20% report having a quirky holiday tradition
- 48% say they have a gift they give or receive every year
- The top gifts people give or receive each year include ornaments (42%), Pajamas (35%). and blankets (28%)
- 16% say they grew up with the holiday tradition of wearing matching pajamas

- Decorating a Christmas tree
- Decorating the house
- Watching holiday movies
- Playing holiday music
- Sending out holiday cards
- Driving or walking around the neighborhood to see the holiday lights/decorations
- Displaying Christmas stockings

- Going holiday shopping on Black Friday
- Choosing and buying a Christmas tree
- Holiday shopping on Cyber Monday
- Having the same holiday meal every year

The survey also revealed some quirky holiday traditions:
