Aikin students grow fresh produce in Tower Garden
Students at Aikin Elementary School are using a Tower Garden to grow fresh produce. The vertical, aeroponic growing system allows up to 20 vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers to grow in less than three square feet.
Aikin parent volunteer Lindsey Harper spearheaded the effort to install the Garden on behalf of Paris Garden Study Club. Aikin Parent Association provided grow lights. Through this initiative, students learn the importance of eating fresh fruits and vegetables. Students have eagerly monitored the growth for three weeks and were excited to see the first harvest.
