Another Game For NTTC Plus Perez Signs With Rams In Today’s Sports

 

Northeast Texas Community College Eagles Baseball team, picked up its first loss of the Region 14 tournament Tuesday night after falling 9-3 to San Jacinto College. The Eagles will play San Jacinto again at 1:00 pm Wednesday to determine which team heads to the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Paris JC sophomore Levi Dixon has committed to play baseball at Texas Southern University! This makes ten Division I signees, a new school record.

Texas A&M University-Commerce All-American quarterback Luis Perez has signed with the Los Angeles Rams. Perez had tried out with the Rams late last week before signing on. He’s not the only Lion to sign with an NFL team. All-American tackle Jared Machorro has signed with the Indianapolis Colts.

The ping pong balls didn’t fall the Mavericks way as they wound up with the fifth overall pick in next month’s NBA draft. The Mavs finished the season with the third-worst record.

All-Star second baseman Robinson Cano of the Seattle Mariners was suspended 80 games without pay by Major League Baseball after testing positive for a banned substance, it was announced Tuesday. Cano tested positive for the diuretic furosemide, which violates the MLB’s drug prevention and treatment program. He said he would accept the suspension, which begins immediately.

The Baltimore Ravens are continuing to try to win back fans, announcing Tuesday they will reduce concession prices at M&T Bank Stadium in 2018. This is the latest example of the Ravens looking to repair the relationship with fans who have become angered by some players’ national anthem protests and disappointed by a three-year playoff drought. The Ravens have sold out every game during their 20-year history at M&T Bank Stadium, but there was an increasing number of empty seats throughout last season. The no-shows were in the thousands for the 14th-largest stadium in the league.

The wife of former U.S. Open Champion Lucas Glover is facing a domestic violence charge stemming from an altercation with Glover and his mother after he missed the 54-hole cut at The Players Championship. Krista Glover was arrested Saturday night and taken to the St. John’s County Jail. She was released the next day after posting $2,500 in bonds. According to the offense report, Glover and his wife were having an altercation after the third round of The Players Championship, where Glover shot 78. The report said that when his mother, Hershey Glover, tried to intervene, Krista Glover began attacking her.

The Phoenix Suns’ most important victory of the year came Tuesday, as the franchise won the 2018 NBA draft lottery. Barring a trade, this will be the Suns’ first No. 1 overall pick in franchise history. After a league-worst 21-61 season, Phoenix had the best odds to win the lottery.
