Appeals Court Halts East Texas Man’s Execution

Blaine Milam TDCJ Death Row

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has delayed what would have been the first execution scheduled in the state this year. A court condemned 31-year-old Blaine Milam for killing his girlfriend’s 13-month-old daughter in 2008 during what the couple said was part of an “exorcism” in Rusk County. Milam’s attorneys say three of four experts who examined Milam determined he is intellectually disabled.
