A court sentenced 36-year-old U.S. Army sergeant Daniel Perry to 25 years in prison Wednesday for fatally shooting an armed man during a Black Lives Matter protest in Austin. A jury convicted Perry in April for killing Garrett Foster. Gov. Greg Abbott has said he would sign a pardon once a recommendation from the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles hits his desk.
