State Rep Bryan Slayton
House Republicans’ first effort to force the state legislature to take up legislation to abolish abortion fell short on Thursday. They tried to attach an amendment to the statehouse rules resolution. The amendment reads that the Texas House could not take up any bills or solutions with the naming of bridges or streets without first voting to abolish abortion. It was authored by State Representative Bryan Slaton, who represents Hopkins, Hunt, and Van Zandt County. They voted down the amendment 41 to 99.
