Austin Mayor Declares Local Disaster Due To Coronavirus

The Texas Tribune reports that the Mayor of Austin declared a local disaster because of Coronavirus forcing the cancellation of this year’s South by Southwest festival. Major sponsors and companies had already pulled out of the event and public pressure to cancel continued to grow. With music, film, gaming, tech, and education, SXSW brought in attendees from 106 countries last year.
