Barefoot Gets Park Of The Year Award

THE TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF CAMPGROUND OWNERS PRESENTS ITS
PARK OF THE YEAR AWARD TO BAREFOOT BAY MARINA AND RESORT

PITTSBURG, Texas, April 28, 2016 — Barefoot Bay Marina and Resort has received the Park of the Year Award from the Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO), the Lone Star State’s highest campground industry award.
“We are very pleased to receive this recognition,” said Barefoot Bay Marina and Resort owner Don Talley, who has invested close to $3 million in improvements to the park during the past five years.
“We think we’ve got the best RV resort on a beautiful lakeshore. It’s a great spot to camp.”
Barefoot Bay received the Park of the Year Award in the medium size park category last week during TACO’s annual Spring Meeting.
“Our Awards Committee takes a very close look at all entries before making final selections, and Barefoot Bay met the high standards to be our Park of the Year in its category,” said Brian Schaeffer, TACO’s executive director, and CEO.
Located on 9,000-acre Lake Bob Sandlin about two hours east of Dallas, Barefoot Bay has 80 RV sites and 40 boat slips that can accommodate everything from pontoon boats to sailboats up to 25 feet in length. The wooded resort also has some of the finest campground rental accommodations in Texas.
In fact, Barefoot Bay received TACO’s “Accommodations of the Year Award” last year after Talley remodeled all six of the park’s cabins, which are available on weekends, by the week or by the month. The rental units are fully furnished and include DirecTV.
In addition to remodeling Barefoot Bay Marina’s cabins, Talley has expanded the park from 25 to 80 sites; lengthened the park’s nature trail, which provides viewing opportunities for 50 different varieties of birds; and built a new sports bar that overlooks the lake.
The sports bar serves beer, wine and daiquiris as well as a full menu of excellent cuisine including pizza, hamburgers, BBQ beef & BBQ chicken sandwiches, grilled chicken sandwiches, hot wings and delicious side items. It has several large, flat-screen TVs, a TV on the covered porch and six TVs on the large deck that overlooks the lake. It also has a Baggo game area.
The sports bar seats 40 comfortably, with an additional 40 seats on the covered porch and an additional 80 on the outside deck.
The resort also offers Friday night Karaoke and Saturday night bands. Sand volleyball courts and a horseshoe game areas are also available in addition to a convenience store with hot and cold food items, bait and tackle, propane and RV supplies as well as gasoline and diesel fuel.
All of these improvements have significantly increased Barefoot Bay Marina’s appeal, not just for people wanting to rent the cabins or lakefront house, but to camp at the resort in a tent or RV.
