Softball playoffs are set for several area teams. The Prairiland Lady Patriots will play Redwater Thursday at 8:00 pm. Game 2 will be Friday at 6:00 pm. If necessary, Game 3 will be Saturday at 6:00 pm. All three games will be at Pine Tree High School.

In baseball, Chisum and Prairiland have both clinched playoff spots while Paris is tied with Atlanta for third place in their district.

The Paris Junior College baseball team won both games Sunday against North Texas Community College. Foster Pace threw a complete game in the finale. Allowing only one run and striking out 11.

In Arlington yesterday, Texas A&M-Commerce football coach Colby Carthel threw out the first pitch for the Rangers. Texas avoided the sweep as they defeated Seattle 7-4. Oakland will be in town for a three-game series beginning tonight on 1490 AM and 96.3 FM KPLT. Pregame at 6:30. First pitch at 7:05.
