Basketball Tonight Plus Dez to Pro Bowl

Paris – Tonight the Prairiland Patriot basketball team looks to keep their name in the district title conversation. Tonight he’ll host unbeaten Chapel Hill at Patriot Gym. The girls tip off at 6pm. The boys will follow at approximately 7:30. The Chisum Mustangs hit the road to take on Como-Pickton. The 16th ranked Paris Wildcats are in Texarkana against Liberty Eylau and the North Lamar Panthers visit Pleasant Grove.

North Lamar swimmers will send one individual and two teams to the regional meet, including the girls 200-yard medley relay, the boys 200-yard freestyle relay, and the 100-yard individual breaststroke.

Mount Pleasant – Over the weekend, the Mt. Pleasant Soccer team swept through the Lufkin Tournament without allowing a goal. First defeating New Caney 9-nil. Followed by wins over Beaumont West Brook 4-nil and Lufkin 4-nil.

The 25th ranked Mt. Pleasant basketball team looks to make it 10 straight wins and continue their perfect district season when they host Hallsville tonight at Willie Williams Gym. The Lady Tigers will travel to face the Hallsville girls. Both games tip off at 7:30. The Chapel Hill Boys are ranked 25th in class 3A, while the girls check in at number 14. Tonight they’ll be on the road to visit Prairiland. The girls tip off at 6. The boys will follow.

Sulphur Springs – Area basketball teams are back in action tonight for district play. The 18th ranked Sulphur Springs Lady Cats are 8-0 in district 16-5A and host the Pine Tree Lady Pirates at Wildcat Gym this evening. The Sulphur Springs boys, at 6-1, will be on the road in Longview against the Pirates. Both games tip off at 7:30. The 6th ranked Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers are 7-0 in district 13-3A, while the Mt. Vernon boys sport a 5-1 record. They’ll be on the road tonight to take on the Cooper Bulldogs and Dogettes. The girls tip off at 6pm. The boys will follow at approximately 7:30. The Commerce Tigers are ranked 18th in the state at 5-0. They’ll host Leonard this evening.

Tonight the Dallas Stars occupy the American Airline Center against the Central Division leading Minnesota Wild. Puck drop is at 7:30.

Despite both teams struggling this season in college hoops, the Red River Rivalry doesn’t disappoint as Longhorn guard, Andrew Jones, sinks a long three with 1.8 seconds to give Texas an 84-83 win over Oklahoma. Kristian Doolittle of the Sooners lead all scorers with 29 points. Shaquille Cleare had 23 points.

And another Dallas Cowboy has been added to the Pro-Bowl. Dez Bryant will fill in for Julio Jones, bringing the Cowboys total to seven pro-bowl selections. Bryant finished the season top 10 in touchdown catches and yards per reception. He’ll join Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, Zack Martin, Zeke Elliott, Dak Prescott and Sean Lee.
