Bigger State Budget Than Expected

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar

In January, Texas Comptroller Glen Hegar estimated that lawmakers would have access to about $112.5 billion for the next two years. That’s down nearly half a percent from the last biennium. At that time, COVID case counts were on the rise, and vaccines’ rollout had just begun. He now believes Texas will have an additional $3.12 billion to spend over the next two years.
