Bill To Benefit Victims Families In “Cold Cases”

A bill co-sponsored by Texas Congressman Michael McCaul has cleared the House Judiciary Committee. California Democratic congressman Eric Swalwell also sponsored the Homicide Victims’ Families’ Rights Act. The bill would give family members the right to review a murder victim’s case file three years after being declared a “cold case.” The number of cold case homicides has grown to more than 250-thousand nationwide since 1980.
